Cabriolet Peugeot 306 Cabriolet Roof Operation Created: 12. 2004 Updated: -. Contents of this page General The information in this document is based on the early model Peugeot 306 Cabriolet. Up to: DAM 8210 or build date 02-May.99 Although some changes have taken place over the years the basic principals of the circuit still apply to the late models. Basic operation of the roof The roof frame consists of 3 sections. Each section pivots on its own hinges and has to be operated in the correct sequence to open or close the roof.

The front section has to be unlocked and pushed up manually before the roof can be operated electrically. Again, at the end of the closing cycle the front section has to be pulled down and locked manually in order to complete the cycle. Once the front section has been pushed up the roof can be operated via the switch on the centre console. Operation is only possible under the following conditions. The boot must be closed. Ignition must be turned on.

Engine not running. Oil pressure light illuminated. Manual operation of the roof In the event of a failure of the electrical or hydraulic system, the roof can be opened and closed by hand. Here are the basic steps to manually open the hood: Turn off the ignition then follow the steps below. Closing. Inside the boot, unlock the rear hood cover. (no more than 1⁄ 5 turn clock wise)Close the boot lid.

Open the hood cover. Lift the main hood out of the well. Can be done by one person but it is much easier with a second person assisting. Make sure the the front part remains lifted up by about 20cm. lift up the rear section. Close the cover and lower the rear section onto the cover.

Pull down the front section and lock the latches on each side. Lock the rear hood cover from inside the boot. (no more than 1⁄ 5 turn counter clock wise) Opening. From the diver's seat unlock both side handles and push the front secton up.

Owners

From outside the vehicle lift the rear section of the hood. Inside the boot, unlock the rear hood cover. (no more than 1⁄ 5 turn clock wise)Close the boot lid. Now open the hood cover and lower the rear section. While holding the hood cover open push the entire roof back into the hood well. Close the hood cover and lock again from inside the boot.

(no more than 1⁄ 5 turn counter clock wise) Initialising the system If for any reason the roof operation failed mid-cycle it may be necessary to initialise the control unit before electric operation will be possible again. This is simply done by manualy moving the roof to the fully open or the fully closed position. In either case it is important that the rear cover is locked before electric operation can comence. For manualy opening and closing the roof see the section. Electric wiring diagram The circuit diagram below shows the system at rest with the roof up. You can click on the individual components to obtain further information.

Pipe Connections The graphic on the left shows the mounting plate for the hydraulic hoses at the back of the pump unit. The letter markings relate to the rams on the graphic below. With the help of this diagram it should be possible to correctly fit the hoses to the hydraulic rams. It is possible to replace individual hoses. First remove the plate from the pump unit by removing the 4 bolts with a 5mm Allen key.
